Product Overview
The QSFP-40G-eSR4 belongs to Huawei’s 40G series and implements 41.25 Gbit/s 40GBASE-SR4 transmission as four parallel 10G lanes over 850 nm multimode fiber, using an MPO-12 connector in the QSFP+ footprint. Huawei documents reaches of 400 m on OM4, 300 m on OM3 and 82 m on OM2, an extended-reach profile versus the 100 m/150 m of standard 40G SR4 modules.
Because all four lanes ride the same parallel ribbon, existing OM3/OM4 trunk cabling can be reused for 40G without new installs up to these distances. The module is specified for a 0°C to +70°C operating case temperature for standard data-hall environments.
Typical applications include 40G spine-leaf and core interconnects inside the data center, 40G uplinks from 10G aggregation layers, and links to legacy 40G server or storage arrays over installed OM3/OM4 ribbon fiber.
