Product Overview
The OSFP-800G-DR8 belongs to Huawei’s 800G series and implements 800 Gbit/s transmission as eight parallel 100G-PAM4 optical lanes at a 1311 nm wavelength, delivered over a single MPO-16 APC connector to a documented 500 m on singlemode fiber. Operating case temperature is specified at 0°C to +70°C.
As a DR8-class parallel singlemode module it suits the short, dense hop counts of AI training fabrics, where hundreds of 800G leaf-spine links run between neighboring racks and rows. An MPO-16 trunks plant keeps fiber counts manageable, and each 800G DR8 port can break out to 8×100G DR/FR-class endpoints for flexible topologies.
Typical applications include 800G leaf-spine interconnects in AI/GPU training clusters, high-radix switch-to-switch fabric links up to 500 m, and scale-out fabrics built around Huawei data center switches with OSFP 800G ports.
