Compatibility Notes Before You Swap
- Monitoring protocol mismatch. Huawei R4850N1 uses RS485 while R4850N2/G6 and the Vertiv e3 and Eltek HE platforms use CAN. A replacement module whose protocol the system controller cannot read will run blind — no alarms, no battery management data.
- Slot width and shelf height. Flatpack2 HE modules and R48-series e3 modules have different mechanical footprints; a power-class equivalent is rarely slot-compatible across brands.
- Input window differences. Vertiv R48-3500E3 requires 200–277 VAC (no low-line operation), while most others accept 85–300 VAC class wide input. Sites with weak generator supply must keep the wide-input variant.
