The Liebert EFC provides indirect evaporative free cooling: outside air is drawn through an indirect heat exchanger so that the cooling medium never mixes with the IT airstream. Vertiv documents the solution for cooling capacities from 100 to 450 kW, positioning it for hyperscale, colocation and large enterprise facilities where maximizing compressor-free operation directly reduces PUE.
Vertiv publishes a design pPUE as low as 1.05 for the EFC solution. The current generation, shown in official Vertiv material as ‘Liebert EFC with low GWP’, pairs the evaporative free cooling principle with a low global warming potential design for the next generation of indirect evaporative free cooling units from 100 to 450 kW.
