Product Overview
The Cisco QDD-8X100G-FR implements 800 Gbit/s as eight 100GBASE-FR lanes (8×100G-PAM4) at 1310 nm over parallel singlemode fiber, using a dual MPO-12 APC connector arrangement. Cisco’s data sheet documents a 2 km reach, compliance with IEEE 802.3cu, a maximum power consumption of 17 W, and per-lane Tx power of -3.1 to +4 dBm with Rx power of -7.1 to +4 dBm.
The eight lanes can be used as a single 800G link or broken out to 8×100G or 2×400G endpoints, which makes the module a flexible bridge between 800G line cards and rows of 100G/400G equipment in brownfield fabrics.
Typical applications include 800G-to-8×100G breakout in enterprise and cloud fabrics, 2 km campus-scale data center interconnect on MPO singlemode trunks, and migrations where 800G switch ports must serve existing 100G equipment.
