Product Overview
The SFP-10G-ER belongs to Huawei’s StarryLink 10G series and implements 10.3125 Gbit/s 10GBASE-ER transmission at a 1550 nm center wavelength, the low-loss window that enables the documented 40 km reach on singlemode fiber with an LC/DLC duplex connector.
The 1550 nm wavelength keeps attenuation near 0.2 dB/km, so 40 km spans close within the power budget without repeaters, and the module stays compatible with standard SFP+ slots on Huawei switches and routers rated for 10GBASE-ER. Note that links of this length normally need optical attenuation when tested back-to-back over short fiber.
Typical applications include metro-area 10G circuits between city sites, inter-campus backbone links up to 40 km, and dark-fiber connections to carrier PoPs or DR sites where leased 10G wavelength services are not economical.
